Whether you’re a new fitness “revolutioner,” or a seasoned gym junkie, you may feel stuck in a routine rut after a while. It’s good to break away from the norm and throw something new at your body to truly test your muscles and your mind.
These fitness trends can do just that! Check out the list below to learn more about some of the trendiest fitness fads for 2016 and give one or two a try.

Body-weight training. This new trend is super convenient. You don’t even need a gym! Focusing on your body without added external resistance allows you to hone in on and master fundamental movements. By building your workout around basic movements like squats, sit ups, and push ups, you can adapt and alter them to fit your fitness levels.
HIIT. High intensity interval training, or HIIT, as been a staple in athletic training for years, but it is now gaining popularity in gyms. Running stairs, doing a superset, or swimming sprints are just some examples of HIIT workouts. This style of workout not only switches up your routine, but it helps burn more fat and calories than steady-state workouts since your body continues to burn calories even after you stop a movement.
Strength Training. While strength training isn’t a new program, it has recently gained popularity, especially with women. You can build strength using body-weight training, power lifting, or traditional strength training. Strength training builds muscles, increases bone strength, and reduces risk of heart disease.
Personal Training. Every body is different and every body reacts differently to exercise. If you feel you’ve hit a plateau on your fitness journey, consider getting a personal trainer. A trained fitness professional can help you improve form and maximize your reps. They can also develop custom workout plans designed specifically to help you reach your personal goals.
Foam Rolling. When increasing high intensity and strength training, it’s important to let your muscles recovery properly so you don’t lose mobility. Adhesions or trigger points on your fascia can create imbalances in natural movement, which can put stress on your joints. Using a foam roller to smooth out these restrictions puts your body back into its natural balance. This not only helps keep you flexible, but also helps reduce the risk of injuries. At Airrosti, we love foam rollers. They are an integral part of our active recovery program for pain relief.
