In this video, Joshua Paulson, DC, discusses the symptoms of shin splints and how this injury differs from other leg injuries. He also explains how traditional treatment methods address this injury versus Airrosti’s targeted approach. We’re dedicated to fixing pain at the source for long-term results.
This painful injury is most often caused by repeated stress on the tibia and lower leg muscles. Common mechanical issues that may lead to shin splints include:
Patients with shin splints often experience lower leg pain, shin cramps, and tenderness along the inner side of the shin bone. In some cases, symptoms can also involve mild swelling in the lower leg.
Even though shin pain may subside when you stop exercising, if left untreated this injury can eventually progress into a stress fracture.
Traditional treatment for shin splints usually involves extended periods of rest so the muscles and shin bone can heal. Shin splints can last for weeks, or even months in severe cases. Your doctor may recommend using cold packs, shoes with arch supports, and taking time to rest. In some cases, you may be referred to a physical therapist for further treatment.
This recovery process can be slow and frustrating, especially for athletes and other active individuals. Without proper treatment, pain, mobility issues, and injury recurrence will likely hinder your recovery.
Fortunately, Airrosti providers are extensively trained to diagnose and treat the root cause of pain associated with shin splints and other injuries. Our targeted approach treating tibial pain at the source can help you quickly return to full activity and avoid injury recurrence. Most patient cases have been resolved in just three visits, based on patient-reported outcomes.
If injuries are keeping you from the activities you love most, schedule an appointment with Airrosti and get back on your feet fast!

Dr. Trimmier really helped my Daughter with a few injuries from Soccer and vacation. He and his assistant Juan have done a great job in getting her back to no pain from a back injury and shin splints. She now can enjoy running and playing soccer at her best. I would like to say thanks for all you both have done in helping and teaching my daughter how to help herself also. You guys are the best. If there anybody I would recommend both of you will be the ones. Have a fun and safe holidays ahead.
