Join Airrosti’s Brittany Bankson, DC, as she goes over the common causes of shoulder pain. She’ll dig into the signs and symptoms associated with different shoulder injuries. She also describes how Airrosti addresses shoulder pain using targeted manual therapy and active rehab exercises.
The shoulder works with surrounding muscles and tendons to allow for a broad range of motion in the arm. Because of the shoulder’s design, our arms can rotate, push, pull, and lift objects overhead with relative ease. Because we rely on the shoulder for daily movements, wear and tear in the shoulder can often lead to painful shoulder injuries. The most common injury that people are concerned about are tears in the rotator cuff.
Typical causes of shoulder pain are overuse and trauma. These occur frequently during activities like weightlifting, football, or gymnastics. Common conditions include bursitis, rotator cuff tendonitis/tears, and shoulder impingement.
Most causes of shoulder pain fall into these two categories:
Symptoms vary depending on the type of shoulder injury. Shoulder injuries will restrict your mobility and likely cause pain when lifting weights or applying pressure. Typically, an injury to the shoulder will be painful and easily aggravated by movement.
Depending on your condition, you may experience any of the following symptoms:
Proper treatment for shoulder problems depends on the precise cause of pain. Your doctor may order tests such as X-Rays and MRIs to diagnose potential causes of pain and help determine the best treatment for your injury. Most times, your doctor may recommend a combination of rest, ice or heat, and nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs or injections for help relieving pain.
While many shoulder conditions can resolve themselves in time with conservative care, some cases can persist for months or even years and restrict your mobility.
Airrosti providers aim to diagnose and treat pain at the source with hands-on manual therapy, combined with targeted active rehab exercises to restore shoulder strength and function. We also give you the tools and resources to address pain as it appears, leaving you to focus on doing the things you love most.

I was having right shoulder pain for 4 + weeks, I am right handed so I couldn't really stop to rest it as much as I would have liked. I was unsure if it was my rotator cuff or something else, I made an appointment with the Orthopedic doctor in Forney for Friday September 2nd just in case I needed it, I went back and forth on what to do but I remembered how much he helped me a couple of years ago with my upper shoulders and decided to pay out of pocket and go see him and I'm so glad I did. He works magic with his hands pushing in the most sensitive areas that really need the attention until he feels the release. After my first appointment and some physical therapy my range of motion and my pain level was greatly improved. I have 3 more vi...+ show moresits scheduled and I feel very hopeful I will be back to lifting very soon and in no pain! Thank you !!

Tom did a nice job of diagnosing my right shoulder problem (I landed on the shoulder during a bike crash). He guided me through a series of exercises, carefully ordering them and selecting associated intensity levels that helped the shoulder recover and then strengthen. Doing the process remotely worked well and I would do it again, although I hope I don't have to!

Dr. Ben was amazing and his staff was very nice and patient. After months of just dealing with it, I was amazed that my shoulder was back to normal in only three visits!

Where to start? 4 visits in and I am already 90% better. Had a shoulder pain that had made me quit one gym and about to quit the less intense gym I had downgraded to. Dr. Adewoye was the consummate professional with compassion. Warm yet unrelenting. She empathized with my pain and struggles but kept guiding me to stay the course by remixing my therapy as needed but always keeping me on track and encouraging me to work through the discomfort to get to the other side. The other side feels amazing. Been unable to work for the past 2 days because I just feel too good and can't be bothered to waste this feeling on toil right now. Sitting in office pain free and staring out at a beautiful day that mirrors how I feel inside - should I go on? (c...+ show morean't, really gotta work now 🙂 Thank you Dr. Adewoye. If pain has taken joy from you, you need to see this amazing practitioner right now. I intend to make Airrosti a part of my life now - gym membership, Airrosti regular sessions.

Last year I had surgery on my left shoulder for a torn rotator cuff, torn labrum, and tendentious on my bicep. After my recovery period I had physical therapy for seven months at a Non-Airrosti center with very little improvement. My surgeon then recommend Airrosti and I wish he would have recommended them from the start. After my first visit I felt a tremendous improvement with my shoulder mobility. With every visit I felt better knowing how much my mobility was improving. Thank you so much Airrosti. Special thanks to Dr. Garza. He is very professional yet delighted to speak to….and you can tell he loves his job.

I had severe shoulder pain on my left arm that kept me from being able to perform even simple duties. Through a web search I found Airrosti and Dr. Escamilla and am so grateful that I did. The rehab and the exercises much improved if not eliminated my pain in only three sessions. I am still amazed and in awe of the level of professionalism and treatments he provided that I was even able to go back a second time to treat my hip and back pain. Thank you Dr. Escamilla and Airrosti for the level of care provided highly recommended!

My shoulder got so bad I could not lift my arm chest high. I am a golf professional so use of my arm is rather important! I went in to see Dr. Moore and after the first visit I had so much relief I could use my arm and swing a golf club again. I went with Dr. Moore’s recommendation and had three treatments. Each treatment was significant and led to strength and no pain back in the shoulder! Thank you Dr. Moore for all you did!! Don’t wait, go get it fixed, it’s so worth it!

Dr. Moore solved my arm/shoulder pain in two visits! This treatment came after I sought traditional orthopedic treatment and PT, but never felt like we were really getting to resolution of the issue. Dr. Moore not only knew exactly what kind of pain I was describing, but explained to me how the pain originated and why some various activities that I did made it better or worse. She did some great soft tissue work and I was given some exercises to strengthen the supporting muscles. Now I am not only better but I have the tools I need to stay strong and pain free.

I went in with a lot of shoulder pain after a car accident. After three office visits, treatment and recommended exercises, my shoulder pain significantly decreased. I would recommend Dr. Garza.

Headline: Airrosti and Dr. Bradley resolved a 12-year-old shoulder injury to help a sailor keep sailing. Dr. Bradley and her team are experts at what they do: listen deeply, diagnose well, and provide a treatment plan both inside and outside the office to help solve and prevent re-injury. When I was inconsistent in doing my exercises at home and on the water, I received helpful insights - a bit more “why” and loving support - to help me own my part of the treatment plan to heal faster. I’m so grateful to Airrosti, Dr. Blaire Bradley, Stephen, Katie, and Ryan for their commitment to excellence. I highly recommend the Airrosti approach to wellness and the Federal Way team!!! Went in with an injury that I had for almost a year, it progressively just got worse to the point where I really couldn't even point to something with my arm. Treatment was painful, but it hurt so good. After the initial visit, my range of motion was better. The staff was incredible and everyone was focused on healing patients instead of just temporarily "slapping a band-aid" on. I would recommend Airrosti to anyone.
