Living in pain can be physically, mentally and emotionally draining. This week’s testimonial outlines the journey of a patient desperate for answers. Unable to work and in constant back pain, Patricia Shedeck decided to try out Airrosti. After her first visit with Dr. Jake Tijerina in Kingwood, Texas, Airrosti was able to give her the pain-free life she hadn’t felt since 2013.
I have struggled with significant back pain since 2013 and have been diagnosed with Ehlers-Danlos. I did get some relief in 2014 from injections and Mckenzie Method Therapy. In June of this year, I fell down my stairs and have had a flare up of symptoms that the Mckenzie exercises could not control. I had been doing water physical therapy for the past 3 months with relief for a few hours, but the symptoms would come back. One Friday after water therapy both of the bottoms of my feet began to burn like I was walking on blisters and my tailbone felt like something was stabbing it. I wasn’t able to work for 4 days. On the 4th day, I was able to get an appointment with Dr. Tijerina.
My boss had mentioned Airrosti months before and I was desperate for relief. After my first appointment, I experienced relief instantly. The most important thing that Dr. Tijerina has done for me is he has given me my thinking back. I don’t think about the pain constantly and how the activity will affect me and life. I’m not physically, mentally, and emotionally exhausted from work or the smallest activity.
The biggest thing for me was after the Astros had won the World Series in Baseball I didn’t think twice about running out of the house, getting in my car and running up to the sporting goods store to get my World Series T-shirt. In fact, I stood in line for over 3 hours with 15 shirts in my arms without thinking about pain. It wasn’t until about the 3rd hour that I noticed all these people sitting on the tables in line rubbing their backs, leaning on shopping carts, and stretching. I couldn’t believe I felt no pain. I felt an ache in my lower back but it was a fatigue, not pain. Two days later at work, I bent down to pick something up off the floor and one of my coworkers said she was so proud of me. She said, “You picked that up like a pro.” It was so bad before that I would have to kick something over for someone else to pick it up for me or just leave it until someone came by to help me.
In less than 2 weeks, my life has changed significantly. I am so glad I found Airrosti and Dr. Tijerina. Two weeks ago, I feared I wouldn’t be able to work and that I would be on short-term disability again like I was in 2014. I’m back to work with a better attitude and so much more energy.
