Provider Spotlight: Alexandra Rios

Alex Rios Provider

Our Provider for the Month of December is Dr. Alexandra Rios! Her ideal superpower is infinite amounts of energy, but for now, she’ll settle for helping her patients get back to doing the activities they love most super quickly. You can visit her at her practice in Austin, Texas.

1) Where is your practice?

My practice is in Austin, TX. I’m located in central Austin! (1301 W. 38th Street)

2) Where are you originally from?

Originally from the very beautiful, very rainy Pacific Northwest – I grew up in Portland, OR.

3) How long have you been with Airrosti?

I am coming up on my 2 year anniversary in early January.

4) Describe your favorite thing about your job.

An injury that limits you is really frustrating. We’ve all been there. Watching patients go from being very limited in their movements/activities, to getting back to gym/trail/studio/pool/court, to breaking personal athletic records, brings me immense joy.  I love helping everyone get back to doing what they love. And my favorite part: we get rid of pain with the most conservative means possible – using our hands for soft tissue work, and exercise.

5) Describe your ultimate vacation?

I’m planning a trip to Costa Rica, and it has everything I’m dreaming of in an ultimate vacation – beaches, beautiful sunsets, hiking, volcanos, and wildlife!

6) What’s your favorite all-time favorite movie?

I can watch School of Rock over and over and over again without getting tired of it. Jack Black is hilarious!

7) What’s the weirdest food you’ve ever eaten?

I don’t have a ton of experience in the weird food department… haha. Can’t say anything really comes to mind.

8) If you won a million dollars what would you do with it?

Wow, this is a tough one because there are a lot of areas of need that are close to my heart that I would love to help with that kind of money! Before becoming a PT, I did Teach For America – for two years, I worked as a high school teacher at a struggling school in San Antonio. This experience opened my eyes to the inequalities we have in our schools. I would love to use that money to create a school that helps kids identify what they want to do after high school and adequately prepares them for their goals. This school would have updated technology, adequate staffing, small classroom sizes, high-quality after-school programs, collaborative learning models, exploratory career opportunities, strong relationships and engagement with local colleges and vocational schools.

9) If you were given a yacht what would you name it and why?

Yachy McYacht Face seems appropriate.

10) What’s your favorite sport?

I grew up playing tennis, and it’ll always be my favorite sport. I played doubles! I know it’s not really considered a “sport,” but lately I’ve been learning more about yoga and am actually going through yoga teacher training outside of work!

11) If you could have any super power, which would you choose and why?

Telekinesis!! Or maybe the ability to have infinite energy without having to sleep.

12) Finally, name one thing you couldn’t live without.

Peanut butter and chocolate 😊
