Running is a great way to lose weight, increase heart strength and get your muscles moving, but it is also a great exercise for your mind and spirit.
Running can change your whole attitude. Just like with any other form of exercise, they’re so much more to gain than there is to lose.

Reasons To Run

1. Endorphins. While your blood is bumping and your lungs are working, your brain is also releasing “happy” chemicals, also known as endorphins. These chemicals perk up your attitude and can really turn a bad day around.
2. Goals. When you run, you’re only competing with yourself. Each run or race is an opportunity to push yourself to reach a new level. When you finally shave a minute off of your mile or beat a personal record, you can’t help but feel like a rockstar.
3. Community. Recently group running events, like charity races, have been growing in popularity. Chances are that some of your friends or co-workers are runners as well who would be more than willing to share some of their tips or join you for a run! Studies show that working out or running with a buddy can actually increase your performance too.
4. Solitude. While the community is great, sometimes you just want to lace up your shoes and throw on your headphones and hit the trail for some quality alone time. Clear your mind and focus on yourself, it’s good for you.
5. Stress Relief. Between your endorphins, your music and your pumping heart, you’re bound to get some stress and frustrations out. Running lets you get away from the daily hustle and escape into your own world to unwind and leave all your stresses behind you.
