Exercising in the winter is difficult, plain and simple. The mornings can often be cold and windy. In the evenings, you might be tired after a long day, and it’s already dark by the time you get home from work. But there are plenty of measures you can take to ensure that you get just as much out of your winter workouts as your summer ones. Here are some tips from Airrosti on how to stay active and motivated during the winter months.

Find The Time

When the days are getting shorter and the nights are cooler, it’s difficult to find a time that feels right to exercise. It’s important to find a time that works with your schedule and lifestyle so that you can create an exercise routine. Once you get a routine, it’s easier to get motivated and continue exercising. Try turning on a light as soon as you wake up to energize yourself for a morning workout, or bring a gym bag with you to work so you can exercise as soon as you get off.

Find The Place

Some days may be cold and rainy, while others might be warm and sunny. Have a plan for where you’re going to exercise as the weather changes. If you don’t have a gym membership for those colder days, clear out a space in your home and exercise there. If it’s nice outdoors—or if you’re willing to get a little chilly—then go for a run or a ride on a bike. Be sure to have a backup if the weather doesn’t comply with your original plans. Planning ahead can help you keep up with your exercise regimen and not fall behind.

Find A Buddy

Having a workout partner can help your exercise routine immensely. Not only to help you stay focused during your workout, but also to help you get to your workout in the first place. If someone is there to keep you accountable, you’re much more likely to stay motivated to achieve your goals. Especially during the colder months when you’d much rather lay under a warm blanket than go exercise.

Keep It Fresh

If you keep doing the same sets, reps, and routines every time you exercise, you’re bound to get bored. When you get bored, you could lose interest and give up. Instead, try changing up your routine every once in a while. Introduce some new exercises into your regimen. Change the location of your workouts. Even changing the lighting or music can help you feel fresh and energized.

Warm Up

Warming up is important, especially so for wintertime exercises. Before you head out for a run, bike ride, or even if you’re exercising at home, stretch and get your blood flowing. This will not only warm up your muscles, making it less likely that you’ll injure yourself, but also warm up your body, acclimating you to the cooler conditions outdoors.
If you don’t stretch or warm up before you exercise, especially in the colder months when your muscles are tense, you put yourself at risk for injury. That’s where Airrosti comes in. Our expert staff will take the time to pinpoint the cause of your pain and fix it fast.
