Your neck is made up of many components, such as ligaments, tendons, and muscles. Because the neck has an extensive range of motion, it is susceptible to many injuries and painful conditions. In addition, the neck’s ability to function properly is directly tied to many other muscle groups, like the shoulder, back, and chest.
Additionally, if neck pain is left untreated, it can become persistent chronic neck pain. Chronic neck pain can present itself as pain, stiffness, and soreness in the neck, perhaps with decreased mobility, that lasts more than several weeks.
One of the most common causes of neck pain is injury to the soft tissues, including the neck muscles, tendons, and ligaments within these structures. Individuals who spend most of their day sitting at work, or doing sedentary activities, have a high-risk factor for developing this condition. The risk is increased especially high for those who sit in poor posture, with the head in a flexed forward position.
In addition to muscle strains and sprains, several other common neck pain causes, such as herniated discs, Osteoarthritis (developing from the wear and tear of cartilage and bones), as well as rheumatoid arthritis. In some cases, this condition may also be caused by an injury to the cervical spine, cervical disc degeneration disease, or other injuries that put pressure on the nerve roots.
Symptoms may include:
• Pain that’s often worsened by holding your head in one place for long period (such as when driving or working at a computer)
• Muscle tightness and spasms
• Decreased ability to move your head
• General soreness, on left or right side, below the ear
• Numbness, tingling, or weakness
Recurring neck pain can not only affect other parts of your body, but other aspects of your life. It can influence your sleeping habits, your ability to work, and even your mental wellbeing. People with severe chronic neck pain are more likely to have other areas of their life affected, such as social activities, and may spend excessive amounts of money seeking various treatments.
Surgery is not always necessary for neck pain. In many cases, conservative treatments such as rest, physical therapy, Airrosti care, medication, and lifestyle modifications can effectively manage symptoms and improve neck function. Surgery may be considered if conservative treatments fail to provide relief, or if there is evidence of structural issues such as cervical disc herniation or spinal stenosis that require surgical intervention. It’s important to discuss all treatment options with a healthcare professional to determine the best course of action.
It’s generally safe to take medications for neck pain, but it’s important to use them as directed by your healthcare provider. Over-the-counter pain relievers such as acetaminophen or nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) can help reduce inflammation and alleviate discomfort. Prescription medications such as muscle relaxants or corticosteroids may be recommended for more severe cases of neck pain. It’s important to consult with a healthcare professional before starting any new medication regimen, especially if you have underlying health conditions or are taking other medications.
Yes, there are several self-care techniques and exercises that can help alleviate neck pain. These may include gentle stretching exercises to improve flexibility, strengthening exercises to support the neck and shoulder muscles, and relaxation techniques such as deep breathing or meditation to reduce muscle tension and stress. Additionally, maintaining good posture, using ergonomic workstations, and avoiding activities that exacerbate symptoms can help prevent further injury to the neck.
While it’s important to avoid activities that exacerbate neck pain, completely restricting all activity may not be necessary. Modifying activities to reduce strain on the neck and incorporating rest breaks can help alleviate symptoms. Gentle exercises such as walking or swimming can be beneficial for improving circulation and promoting healing without putting excessive strain on the neck. However, if neck pain persists or worsens with activity, it’s important to consult with a healthcare professional for proper evaluation and guidance on activity modification.
I had terrible neck pain from an injury and never got long term results from getting adjusted by a standard chiropractor. Airrosti is my go-to treatment because they focus on the root cause of the issue and treat the soft tissue, in addition to adjusting you. I’m pain-free and back to normal in just 3 visits!

I experienced a very significant amount of neck pain relief after Airrosti techniques were used on my upper and lateral chest muscles. The at-home exercises work as a follow-up. Of note, I had plantar fascitis resolved about 10 yearrs ago by Airrosti. My experience is that it works quickly, if not immediately, and the results last.

I was in pain almost every day in my neck area, as an active person it was hard for me to do my every day activities I enjoyed. After my first session with Dr. Raabe I noticed a difference and the pain was almost gone. Dr. Raabe was very helpful and understanding. After several treatments I am not back to doing what I enjoy and staying active. Overall, I had a great experience and I highly recommend using Dr. Raabe for any pain or injury.

I was in tremendous pain from my neck where I could barely lift my left arm, and with less than 8 sessions he resolved my issues. Dr. Garza’s treatments were targeted, and effective. His consultative approach and recommended exercises were customized to my condition. I highly recommend his practice to anyone needing relief from muscle pain.

Dr. Trimmier, Julie & Drew seriously transformed the way I feel. My neck & shoulder pain was excruciating when I first came and literally I felt almost instant relief after my 1st session. Dr. Trimmier & the team listened to my concerns, gave me great instructions for my at-home exercises & informed me every step of the way during our sessions together. If you have pain I highly recommend Airrosti they are knowledgeable & lead with compassion!

Dr. Garza really helped with some neck/upper back pain and tension. My migraines have been lessened, and I can move my head and neck way more now too. I like that the treatment includes exercises that you can do as for as long as you want, so the maintenance is more sustainable long-term. He's very professional and his office is nice and comfortable. He's also very prompt. There was never more than a one or two-minute wait.

I have been having a lot of pain in my neck down through my shoulders and in my hips. I work with a couple of ladies that went to Dr. Olds and they both had wonderful experiences. I of course put off going until I could hardly turn my neck. I made an appointment and on that first visit Dr. Olds explained everything and what he would be doing. He listened and took thorough notes and after that first visit, I could tell this was something that was going to work. It did hurt just like he said it would but it was one of those good hurts. Dr. Olds' bedside manner is awesome and his conversation took your mind off of some of the pain. He would discuss everything that was going on and explained it perfectly. I would definitely recommend Dr. Old...+ show mores if you are having pain. They work on so many areas and really know their stuff. His assistant, Lynda, was awesome as well and explained the stretching and exercises to keep you feeling great. Thank you so very much, Dr. Olds. I feel better than I have in quite a while.

First, let me start by saying Dr. Hicks is simply AMAZING! This review is long overdue. I woke up with a crick in my neck on a Saturday. Sunday it just wouldn't go away. Sunday night I could not move and had a spasm in the side. I was not able to sleep. Monday morning I was at Urgent Care. The pain was excruciating, to say the least. Urgent Care released me with some pain meds and suggested I see a Chiropractor. I then remembered that I was given Dr. Hicks' name from a friend. So I called and to my fortune, she had a spot open that Monday afternoon. She is very personable and made me feel welcomed from the start. She was very knowledgeable and shared a lot of information with me as she was stretching me out. Her technique is to work on t...+ show morehe soft tissue and heal the source of the pain. She does not do traditional adjustments. I was so swollen so the process was a little uncomfortable. But by the time it was over I had immediate relief. I was given some tools to use at home. By my 2nd visit, she released me from care. I am so thankful for Dr. Hicks. If you have any pain, I would highly recommend that you go see her. She is a real gem here in Nassau Bay!

I came in with very extreme uncomfortable strain on my neck and shoulder. It was like this for over a year, I tried one place and it felt like I was wasting my time. I was told about Arrosti but I was not in a rush to waste more money on chiropractors…. I’m glad I finally decided to come to Arrosti and give it a try because from my first appointment, I have had so much relief from my neck I couldn’t believe it! I’m stubborn as they come but man I’m glad I came. My advice is don’t let one place ruin it for doctors that can actually help. I recommend this place to everyone I know. Dr.Hurt was who was caring for me and she did beyond great for me! I can sleep easy now after a few years of uncomfortableness!

I came to Airrosti with chronic neck pain that had been giving me crippling migraines. Dr. Moore educated me on the areas that I needed to work on. Not only that but she was personable and treated me as if we had been lifelong friends. Exceptional service, and I AM PAIN FREE.

I came to Airrosti per another friend's recommendation for ongoing neck pain. They got me back in shape within the first visit! I truly thought the pain was going to last forever until my appointment. I love their approach to care - the physical therapy component has helped so much for ongoing prevention. Thanks, Airrosti!

Sometime around 2016, I went to Dr. Payne regarding some significant pain in my right neck/shoulder which was limiting my mobility. The tissue in my neck/shoulder was extremely tight after 5 visits of having Dr. Payne press her thumbs into my neck/shoulder tissue, I had ZERO pain and full mobility for as long as I did the exercises I was given for self care. To this day, I have not had any issues.

I had neck problems and the aciatic nerve on my left leg. I was in a bad shape. I was having problems lifting objects . Now, I am able to walk and workout. Thank u to Dr. Dizier. He listens and very patiently. I highly recommend it.

I had neck pain and tension that did not respond to treat for several years. Dr. Garza was able to make significant improvements after a few weeks.

I originally came in with neck pain from having severe and multiple migraine headaches. Just after 4 visits I was doing great, but then I fell and injured my right shoulder, hip, and low back--so when I went in for what was to be my last visit for my original problem, Dr. Abilez changed my treatment and after 5 more treatments my new injuries were addressed and treated--and I am doing very well. I am a retired Physical Therapist and I am very impressed with the quality of these treatments, and the skills of the staff. I would highly recommend them.

Dr. Moore was very attentive to the pain I was experiencing. I often feel as though doctors don't take pain seriously. Not so with Dr. Moore! She patiently listened so she could tailor her treatment. I was experiencing neck pain and saw huge improvements after just two visits.

I've was suffering with a horrible neck pain from working out for two weeks, Karena Stalnaker DC was AMAZING! I'll admit I went in thinking there's no way this pain could go away. Two visits and my pain was gone! It's just something I still can't believe or explain!! She explains everything perfect physical treatments + exercises! She assured me doing the exercises on my own will help strengthen the muscles around the area causing my pain. She is professional, knowledgeable, very friendly and cares for her patients. I STRONGLY recommend Karena Stalnaker DC and Airrosti to anyone who needs help they care about your outcome and physical needs!!!

I would highly recommend Airrosti, Dr. Moore went out of her way to evaluate my medical records to understand my discomfort in my shoulder and neck. She explained her findings and was able to work magic on the discomfort and pain along with providing exercises to help with the issue. She’s taken an approach to my overall health which made me feel confident about the care received.

I initially saw Dr. Fearn for neck and back pain. I was seeing a chiropractor, but after a bad and painful experience, I heard about and decided to try Airrosti. WOW! I am so glad I found this place! Neck and back pain…gone! I will be using Airrosti and Dr Fearn on a weekly basis.

This is my 3rd time with Sarah (for different issues). Her care and compassion, along with attentive listening helped me resolve every single issue! I cannot recommend her enough. The most important part of your treatment plan I feel are the exercises carefully curated for your needs. They really DO work! This past issue was literally a "pain in the neck" that was keeping me from enjoying life, and using regular pain killers. No more! No more pain, no more meds. And I'm continuing the exercises because those special stretches just FEEL good to my body.
