While doing an Olympic weightlifting move 14 months ago, I got a pretty severe lateral herniated disc L5 S1. Since then I was sent on a wormhole of going to a basic physical therapist, Chiropractic with it only getting worse and worse, and me becoming dependent upon a practitioner that lived an hour across town, then acupuncture (don’t get me started on acupuncture) where I was prescribed more and more magic potions, made to radically change my diet, do a cleanse, and was told to stop all activity and I need to be bedridden laying on my back for at least three months, which is absolutely not suitable for my career. I took that advice stopped all fun in my life for two months, and the result was nothing short of impending doom and sudde...+ show moren death of my ablebodied-ness. I could no longer do a down dog, could not stand for longer than two minutes without agonizing nerve pain, and got into a level of desperation that made me scour the Reddit forums understanding how people have committed suicide over this level of chronic pain. All the while the acupuncturist and chiropractor told me after three months of sessions I needed to be paying them for anywhere from 8 to 12 months, $20,000-$30,000 of investment and 6 to 8 hours a week of my time tied up during peak business hours to go to these practitioners. To say I was desperate, was an understatement. Enter Dr. Aaron Williams, Lo and Airrosti— my boyfriend had been lovingly barking at me to at least go see him (he’d helped him with some tennis elbow.) And rehab sessions with Lo are fantastic, she is such a fantastic sunshiny presence that is such a delight to share time with. Thank you Dr. Aaron for giving me REAL solutions that have brought my LIFE back to me. I can walk over 2 hours with no pain now, and mindfully move in my workout classes.
