Airrosti’s mission is to positively impact the lives of as many patients as possible. What are the benefits of telehealth?

Telehealth (also known as telecare or telemedicine) has been shown to overcome barriers to health services caused by distance between patient and provider, access to reliable transportation, and lack of available providers. Telehealth helps overcome geographic barriers to healthcare, especially for specialized providers.

According to the American Hospital Association (AHA), telehealth is changing care delivery in communities across America. The organization reports that telehealth options are expanding patient access to routine and specialty care while improving patient outcomes.

Airrosti in-clinic treatment delivers the most comprehensive and efficient care possible, resulting in rapid injury resolution. However, Airrosti Telehealth is a great solution when in-clinic treatment is not an option.

What's the difference between telehealth and in-office care?

While coming into the office to receive hands-on care is preferable under normal circumstances, we’re committed to keeping our communities safe while continuing to care for our patients.

Expanding Healthcare Availability

We want to give our patients options while continuing to provide expert care and valuable treatment. While our clinics still have appointments available, Airrosti Telehealth allows you to connect with our professional treatment teams from the safety of your home. It also allows you flexibility when booking your appointment because it cuts out the travel time to and from the office.

Expert Care with Convenient Access

Although in-person visits are preferable for faster injury resolution, sometimes traveling to a clinic for treatment is simply not possible. If you’re at home and don’t feel comfortable coming into an office, Airrosti Telehealth can help you get back on your feet.

Even though you won’t be in the same room, you will still be able to communicate directly with your provider via video calls to explain your symptoms and receive an accurate diagnosis. They’ll equip you with the knowledge and exercises to take your rehab into your own hands.

Reducing Hospital Strain

Currently, many of our hospitals are working at or over-capacity to combat COVID-19, while still treating patients for various other illnesses and injuries. At Airrosti, we are determined to help reduce the strain on the hospital system and assist those whose essential job functions may be impacted by musculoskeletal injuries. By continuing to offer in-office treatment, and the addition of telehealth options, we are focused on helping as many patients as possible.

How do I know if Airrosti telehealth is right for me?

Our goal is to help you get back to living pain free, from the comfort and convenience of your own home. If your injury cannot be resolved effectively through Airrosti Telehealth, your provider will assist you in receiving an appropriate care referral.

Why is an accurate diagnosis important?

Without an accurate diagnosis from a highly trained, musculoskeletal expert, many conditions can be easily misdiagnosed, resulting in ineffective and inefficient care. Not all pain is the same, and it’s important to understand the underlying cause to accurately treat and resolve the pain.

For example, tennis elbow (also known as lateral epicondylitis) could be caused by a problem in the neck. In other words, it may not be coming directly from the elbow. Knee pain is often the result of weak hip muscles, like the gluteus medius, that control the position of your knees when you are walking, running, or jumping.

Low back pain is one of the most common musculoskeletal conditions and one of the injuries we consistently treat at Airrosti. Experts have estimated that approximately 80% of Americans will experience low back pain during their lifetimes. Not only is low back quite common and often debilitating, but it’s also extremely hard to diagnose.

It can result from injury, activity, or underlying medical conditions. Low back pain may be linked to the bony lumbar spine, discs between the vertebrae, ligaments around the spine and discs, spinal cord and nerves, lower back muscles, and even abdominal and pelvic internal organs.

The human back is composed of a complex structure of muscles, ligaments, tendons, discs, and bones, which work together to support the body and enable us to move around. The segments of the spine are cushioned with cartilage-like pads called discs. Problems with any of these components can lead to back pain.

Even with expensive diagnostic tests, frequently prescribed by healthcare providers, identifying the root cause of back pain can be extremely difficult. This often leads to ineffective care or long-term treatment plans and opioid prescriptions designed to mitigate the symptoms without resolving the true source of the pain.

What makes Airrosti Telehealth different?

With Airrosti Telehealth, you will receive one-on-one, personalized care from an Airrosti Provider. Our providers are licensed clinicians and experts in accurately diagnosing the source of your pain or injury. An accurate diagnosis is the key to recovery, allowing your Provider to prescribe a custom, at-home recovery plan.

Your recovery plan will be designed specifically for you, your injury, and your fitness level. Each of the mobility, stability, and stretching exercises in your recovery program will be designed to target the root cause of your injury, while increasing mobility and range of motion and significantly decreasing pain.

Through a combination of follow-up appointments and electronic communications via your personal Patient Portal, your provider will be able to monitor your care and modify your recovery plan, as needed, to ensure you achieve the expected injury recovery outcomes. If at any part of the recovery process you are not responding as expected to remote care, your provider will work with you to make sure you receive the appropriate referral for continued care.

What should I expect during my Airrosti Telehealth appointment?

Experiencing virtual treatment for an injury or pain can seem intimidating at first, which is why we at Airrosti are taking every possible step to ensure we provide the same clinical expertise and commitment to your health that you would experience face to face.

During your first virtual visit, you will consult with an Airrosti provider who will take a detailed medical history and walk you through a step-by-step orthopedic evaluation to accurately diagnose your injury and identify the source of your pain.

Next, your provider will educate you on the specifics of your injury while prescribing a personalized recovery plan with home-care instructions. This recovery plan will include specific, customized exercises designed to improve the body’s mobility, stability, and strength. Combined, these active rehab exercises address the root of your injury.

Where should I set up for my telehealth appointment?

Identify a private room, free of noise and distractions, for your appointment, so you can discuss private health information freely.

Note: For the safety of our patients and to ensure a successful appointment, Airrosti Telehealth visits may not be completed in your vehicle.

What should I wear for my appointment?

Wear clothing that allows you to move and bend comfortably. Make sure your clothing is not revealing when standing, moving, or bending over. Most patients wear shorts and a t-shirt, but athletic clothing is not required.

What do I need for my appointment?

Chair: The chair height needs to be such that your feet are flat on the floor while you are seated.

Space: Be sure you have enough space to sit in the chair a few feet from your camera, allowing your Airrosti Provider to see your feet during the examination.

Internet: Wifi is helpful with the connection and the quality of the video and audio.

What are the computer or phone requirements?

All you need to take advantage of Airrosti Telehealth is a webcam-enabled computer or a smartphone. The following web browsers are supported:

What should I do with the medical files and imaging I want to share with my Provider?

From your Patient Portal, simply upload any imaging or previous medical files related to your current injury by clicking “Upload File”. If you are a new patient to Airrosti, you will receive an email to set up your Patient Portal account after completing the appointment scheduling process and prior to your Airrosti Telehealth appointment.

Is there anything else I should know to prepare for my telehealth appointment?

Your Airrosti Telehealth appointment will involve some provider-directed physical movements. For your safety, we strongly advise all patients to refrain from taking any non-prescribed medication or self-prescribed medicinal products at least 24 hours prior to your scheduled appointment.  Do not stop taking any medication prescribed by your physician.
